McLaren are the second longest serving Formula 1 team on the grid having appeared in 59 seasons of Formula 1. The British based team confuses many people and angers many fans as they class themselves as British, however, their founder Bruce McLaren was from New Zealand and raced in Formula 1 between 1958 and 1970 until his untimely death at Goodwood in 1970 before the 1971 season, whilst testing the McLaren M8D Can-Am car.
The McLaren team have participated in 970 races, scoring 9 constructors championships, including the 2024 Constructor's Championship and are the current world champions.
